About Me

Born in 1946 in Istanbul, the journey in art began with a Masters Degree from the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, France, where worked in Prof. Cesar’s workshop from 1970 to 1974. This foundational experience led to a position as a faculty lecturer at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Algiers, Algeria, from 1983 to 1984. The teaching career continued at the Department of Architecture at the Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey, from 1992 to 1994. Since 1990, has been a Professor of Sculpture at the Anatolian University in Eskisehir, Turkey, where currently serves as the President of the Department of Sculpture.

The artistic journey includes numerous exhibitions in Turkey. In 1988, held an individual sculpture exhibition at the Urart Art Gallery in Istanbul. The following year, in 1989, participated in a collective sculpture exhibition at the Tem Art Gallery in Istanbul. From 1991 to 1994, was a regular participant in various Istanbul art fairs. In 1992, showcased work in an individual art exhibition at the Is Bank Art Gallery in Istanbul. The year 1993 saw participation in two notable exhibitions: “Women in Anatolia over the Ages” and “Women Artists of the Turkish Republic” in Istanbul.

In 1996, held an individual sculpture exhibition at the Siyah-Beyaz Art Gallery in Ankara, contributing to the Museum of Archeology’s collection. The exhibition history extends beyond Turkey as well. From 1984 to 1985, presented engravings at the Goethe Institut in Algiers, Algeria. In 1991, participated in a collective artists’ exhibition in North Cyprus. In 1995, showcased work at the Turkish Ministry of Culture International Art Festival in Houston, Texas, USA.

Throughout the career, has received several prestigious awards. In 1968, won the 3rd Prize in the Ahmet Andicen Sculpture Award. In 1981, achieved 1st Prize at the 42nd Turkish Paintings & Sculpture Awards. The Turkish Association of Architects honored with the Mansion Award in their visual description competition in 1983. In 1988, received the 2nd Prize in the Gulhane Events’ sculpture competition on Istanbul.

The artist has also contributed to public monuments, with notable works including the 1991 Yusuf Emre monument in Eskisehir and participation in the Turkish Ministry of Culture’s Avicenna – Great Turks Competition the same year. In 1993, created the Yunus Emre monument located in Yunus Emre Park in Ankara.

Selected writings concerning the artist include an article by Prof. Ozgonul Aksoy (Architect) titled “Sanat Çevresi,” published in March 1992, Issue 161.
